30/30 challenge – day 10

Continuing my challenge to create a new piece of artwork every day for 30 days.

Every day in this challenge there is a prompt to help inspire people in some kind of way. Most of the time I ignore the prompts but this one was “Artwork for a Bird”

And this time it did speak to me, but perhaps not in the way it might have been intended. Or maybe it has since it did inspire my work for today.

I imagined if I was a bird what would I look down and see while roaming the skies. But in a constructivist style of course!

Hence this piece was born. I like the aspect from above that looks like it could be a group of buildings, or an abstract flower with geometric petals. It could actually be many things.

I found the process of making this piece to be very peaceful and rhythmic. I started from the centre and worked my way outwards (a favourite method!) which felt very natural. I liked building the pattern as it went. I like how it feels like the piece is reaching out to you.

If I was a bird I would enjoy looking down at this.
