Continuing the challenge to create a new piece of art every day for thirty days…
The prompt for this day was “The Future of Art” which was fairly easy for me to tie my hat to since most of my pieces are modern abstracts, but I didn’t pay much specific attention to the prompt this time.
After my recent forays into pieces that don’t follow a constructivist ethos, I decided to use some of its aesthetics on this day.
I have enjoyed creating pieces where the outlines of shapes are implied rather than obvious. I used this approach to create this piece using circles and rectangles:

I titled this piece “Soleil Steps” to reflect the way it could be a stairway to the sun, or perhaps the moon, depending on your perspective.
I really like this piece and could see it as a larger version. It is one that I would have hanging in my house.
This piece doesn’t follow all of the traditional aspects of constructivism but that’s part of why I like the geometric abstraction elements of the movement because they can be adapted and played with to create new interpretations.
