30/30 challenge – day 26

Continuing creating a new piece of art every day for thirty days…

The prompt for day 26 was “Share your hack for being an artist” which didn’t relate to me much for that day, but looking back on it I suppose I did reuse an idea that I had already done, so perhaps that is a hack in a way?

I had been thinking about my piece from day 14 and how I liked the different sections revealing the pattern behind it:

I decided to try a different approach along a similar theme:

It took me three different tries to get the “windows” arranged how I liked them. It was a challenge to have the right number of windows offering different sizes and shapes.

Then creating the circle shapes, I initially just created circles with single lines, then thought I would make thicker circles so drew them as two circumferences with the intention of filling them in. But upon drawing the circle shapes, I found that I liked the circles as they were without filling them in.

Looking back at it now, I think it could still have worked with filling them in, or maybe filling some of them in. However I’m happy with my original decision to leave them “hollow.”

There is a slightly Olympic feel about the circles (or could we call them rings?) which is funny because on the next day I would be skiing in Italy where they held the 2006 Olympic ski races, and we’ll be staying at the former Athletes Village accommodation. Plus I was an “Olympics baby” but that’s a story for another time…
