30/30 challenge – day 27

The last few days of my challenge to create a new artwork every day for thirty days.

I’m on the home stretch at this point!

The prompt for this day was “Where does your hobby meet your profession?” Since my day job is in project and data management for a music licensing company, I wasn’t sure if this was going to be a prompt that I could utilise, so I mostly ignored it.

As many of my pieces have featured circles recently I decided to do something with squares. I titled it “Everything’s Connected” since each square is crossing over at least one other square:

This was a reasonably simple piece to create but it was challenging to line the squares up properly so they didn’t look wonky. It’s easy with circles but much harder with squares!

Looking back on the piece, I suppose there is some connection to my day job in that this piece can be seen to be more technical in nature, and there is a sense of ordered chaos, which is much of what project management entails. However if I’m honest it was not intentional.

I like that this piece is both simple and complicated at the same time, and dare I say elegant(?) too. It makes me feel at peace somehow with the order of it. And of course I am a massive fan of the 90 degree angle so this one is right up my street.
