New Constructivists Annual Show

This week is the start of the annual New Constructivists show at Chelsea Town Hall.

In previous shows I have always taken paintings, mostly in monochrome but also in some colours too. Here are a few photos from last year:

Prior to doing this course, I worked in various different styles and it wasn’t always obvious that the same person had made all of the different pieces.

This year however I wanted to showcase the work I have been doing more recently, concentrating on monochrome ink drawings.

I decided to use the piece I made for the interim show, but split it into two halves, one for each side, that could be hung on the wall.

I also decided to use the two larger pieces I made that were based on some smaller A5 size works I had made.

Here is how the pieces looked when hung at the venue:

When I got to the Town Hall I was happy that the curator gave me a prime spot at the front of the space, and I’m pleased with how the pieces look there.

I really love how the monochrome pieces look cohesive and obviously all from the same artist.

I also love that everything is in black and white. I am feeling so happy and comfortable making pieces that I like, rather than making what I think other people will like.

It really does not matter to me at all if I sell anything or not. I’m just happy to see my artwork on the wall amongst my fellow Constructivists.

The show is on at the Chelsea Town Hall from 24 April to 7 May 2025. It’s in the Long Gallery on the first floor. There is a private view evening with wine on Wednesday 30 April from 5:30-8pm if anyone would like to attend. Just show up, no need to book. Hope to see you there!
